the cello sings

winter days hurt

endless echoing

in the shell

of my still body

black mirrored hallways

sadness clings

though the sun shines

my howling

bounces off the four walls

the blues hit hard

only twelve bars

singing in the trees

ragged tunes

to lighten sadness

ghosts of forgotten dreams

the wise man says

let go of longings

and find peace -

how can I forget

my two feet on the ground?

wiser men say

hold good memories

in your heart

regrets scar the soul

but the cello sings
